A man takes his wife and teenage children on a trip down memory lane as he goes through a divorce… Florent Bernard wrote the film with Charlotte Gainsbourg in mind as Sandrine, but instead asked for an actress who looked like Charlotte Gainsbourg, thinking that he might never get her in the film. Luckily, his producers were also producing Jane par Charlotte (2021) (his documentary about his famous mother), so she was asked and loved the script. It was only after she accepted that Bernard had the idea of pairing her with José Garcia; he then completely rewrote the character for him. He ended up reading the script on a Wednesday morning and said yes later that day. During the breakfast scene at the beginning of the film, Sandrine’s children look at the bowl of cereal in front of them all at once, and then suddenly at their mother standing to the side in the next scene.
